Vanessa Clairmont

Vanessa and her husband, Randy, traveled to Haiti in 2010 after the devastating earthquake. They had the opportunity to work with an orphanage, and they discovered quickly that love of a child crosses language, color and biology. Shortly after returning from that trip, they felt the Lord prompting them to begin their family through adoption from D.R. Congo before attempting to have biological children. While they have faced many challenges and are still in the process of bringing home their three your old son from Congo, God continued to blessed the journey. Through the adoption process, Vanessa has clung to Romans 12:12 - "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." She desires to share her heart and experience of struggling to be patient while waiting to become a mother while also celebrating the victories and choosing joy during the adoption journey.

Vanessa’s adoption journey also led her family to become full-time missionaries to Congo. In more than 18 months of waiting for her adoptive son, God used her heart for the people of Congo and adoption story to call her to leave her home in Southern California and serve in Africa. It was amazing to see how God wove a heart for missions with adoptions to create a beautiful and clear calling on her life.

Vanessa hope’s to finalize the adoption of their son in Spring-Summer 2013 and welcomed a beautiful biological daughter, Abby, in September 2012. She and her husband are now missionaries with MAF and are preparing for service in Kinshasa, Congo. Visit their blog at www.theclairmontfamily.com.
